M84 (elliptical galaxy) & M86 (elliptical galaxy)Magnitude: 9.30 Magnitude: 9.19
M84 is situated in the heavily populated inner core of the Virgo Cluster of galaxies. M-84 is round, about 3' in diameter, has a large 1' diameter core, and a stellar nucleus. M-86 is larger (about 4' in diameter), and fainter, and also has a stellar nucleus. These relatively bright galaxies are very similar in appearance, and are visible in the same low-power field of view.
